| 2009-20010 This year was largely devoted to completing the Silver Project. We took the PSAs we had filmed in past years and edited them. They were aired on NewTV. We made two educational TV shows for kids. One was about science. It showed how to do simple experiments using things kids can find around the house, like making oobleck out of corn starch and water, or dropping mentos into a bottle of soda. The second TV show we created was about healthy eating. It showed how to choose healthy snacks like fruit and how to modify a recipe to make it healthier. There was an encampment again this year, the Wizarding Tournament, at which girls lashed brooms, whittled wands, or played Quidditch. |

| 2008-2009 In the past, a Lasell class hosted a science and math fair for Newton Girl Scouts. This year the class was cancelled. So our troop stepped up, planned all the activities, and ran the fair ourselves. We continued our trips to NewTV to film two more PSAs: Don't be a fool, smoking is NOT cool and Don't use drugs, they're no fun. A large part of the year was devoted to planning and leading Encampment '09 Hooray for Hollywood! We had an online chat board so girls could communicate between meetings. Activities at the encampment included watching a movie -- we used a sheet for our projection screen! |
| 2007-2008 Our first year as a Cadette troop found us experimenting with fashion, while still having outdoor fun, too, like when we took a horseback ride. The theme of the year's winter encampment was Fantastical Faire, with activities centered around fairy tales. Our troop led the activities for younger girls. The two biggest hits of the year were filming Public Service Announcements at NewTV and the year-end whitewater rafting trip. |
| 2006-2007 Every girl in the troop earned the Bronze award, the highest award a Junior Girl Scout can earn! We devoted six of our meetings to preparing food to donate to the Newton Food Pantry. After all that work, we deserved a break. We took a train to New York City where we visited the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, the Empire State Building, and lots more. |
| 2005-2006 This year we began work on the Bronze award. Girls earned Let's Get cooking, Food Power, the Sign of the Rainbow, and Junior Aide. We went horseback riding and went to Camp Favorite for the Scout-O-lympics encampment. |
| 2004-2005 This year's highlights included ice skating, rock climbing, and visiting a cat shelter. The girls wrote two plays and performed them for each other. We also joined other Newton troops in the city-wide encampment "Reach for the stars." |
| 2003-2004 During our third year our troop grew to include 13 girls from grades 1-3, from five different schools. We visited a tide pool, went ice skating, and decorated a float for the Memorial Day parade. We camped overnight in a cabin at Cedar Hill. At the end of the year our two 3rd graders bridged to Juniors. |
| 2002-2003 In our second year we had nine Brownie Girl Scouts, from four different schools. Some highlights that year were painting birdhouses, a swimming and dancing party, and a sleepover at Boston's Museum of Science. |
| 2001-2002 Our troop began as a Daisy troop in November of 2001. We started with three girls who had been friends in daycare. When they began elementary school they wanted to keep their friendship going in spite of being at different schools or in different grades. Forming a Girl Scout troop seemed like the perfect solution. The girls invited their classmates and neighbors to join us, and we grew to include seven girls. |
